Variety Data Sheets
Over the last fifteen years Chalmers have developed and maintained a valuable reference resource about the various clones and varieties they imported. This includes background information on the varieties themselves from their home country as well as data and insights from the experience of growing and making these varieties in Australia since 2003.
The reference information used to compile these data sheets has been sourced from the following publications:
- Wine Grapes; Jancis Robinson, Julia Harding, Jose Vouillamoz; 2012; ISBN 978-1-846-14446-2
- Native Wine Grapes of Italy; Ian D’Agata; 2014; ISBN 978-0-520-27226-2
- Catalogo Generale delle Varietà e dei Cloni Uva da Vino e da Tavola; Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo; 2011
- Vitigni d’Italia; Antonio Calo, Attilio Scienza, Angelo Costacurta; 2001; ISBN 88-206-4367-7
In addition, analytical, observational and anecdotal information from our own experience with these varieties as well as that of our colleagues across the Australian wine industry has been included.
Thanks go to some very special friends of the Chalmers family for their part in this work. Dr. Stefano Dini who initiated this extensive resource for us with a whole year of amazingly detailed research and recordings in 2005. And to Rebecca Gibb MW who assisted in the renovation of these pages for their current iteration. Making the whole job much more beautiful, bunch images were taken by the talented Adam Hobbs of Admedia Australia.
